Lourdes Orive | User Experience Consultant

“Allyis is committed to providing the best experience possible for clients and employees.  What better place could there be for a user experience specialist?”

Role at Allyis

I've been at Allyis for over four years and have worked in a variety of content management and user experience roles. As a user experience consultant, I help clients understand how users will get the most out of their content, technology, and communication efforts and how to make them more effective for those users.

Experience & Approach

Prior to coming to Allyis, I worked as a marketing director for Major League Baseball’s MLB.com and before that, I managed the Starbucks.com website for Starbucks Coffee Company and developed online properties as an executive producer for the Oxygen Media network. As someone who’s been fortunate enough to work in the online industry for the last 14 years, I’ve been in a great place to see firsthand how the emerging technologies of the past two decades have changed everything we do. All of the roles I’ve held professionally combine wonderfully into a user experience focus. I'm a passionate believer in user-centered design, which simply means putting the end user at the center of every decision when building a technology solution (whether a corporate intranet, collaboration solution, or user engagement solution) from design thru feature and functionality development.

A Favorite Project

About a year ago, I completed a two-year project with the Microsoft Partner Network team that involved on-boarding over 80 international Microsoft subsidiaries in over 30 languages onto a single content management platform. Among other things, my role involved training the subsidiary teams in editorial and user experience design best practices, as well as hands-on training for using the new content management system. I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to five different international locations to conduct the training, including Tokyo and Buenos Aires.

Fun Fact About Me

My time working for Major League Baseball spanned the 2004 season, so I was able to see the Boston Red Sox come back and beat the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series on their way to their first World Series win in 86 years. I had great seats at Fenway, right next to Pesky’s Pole—an unforgettable experience for a die-hard baseball fan!
